The trans-continental expedition Cape to Cape stops by in Bulgaria

The trans-continental expedition Cape to Cape, which started on March 1st of this year from the northernmost point of Europe (the North Cape in Norway) and will end near the Cape of Good Hope (South Africa) in early July 2009, stopped by in Bulgaria.

Twelve specialized “Renault” trucks, which were previously used mostly for army needs, are making the 30 000 km. expedition. The international expedition will cross seventeen countries and three continents, using five shifts of a total of 54 drivers from 14 countries.

Some of the special expedition vehicles could be spotted on Friday night on the square “Alexander Nevski”. The expedition’s goal is to popularize “Rennault Trucks”, showing off their durability under various weather conditions, and the new SCR system for purification of exhaust gas. The system allows the heavy vehicles to pass the ecological norms of Euro 6, which will become mandatory for trucks sold in Europe in 2013-2014.
