The Bulgarian Easter of 1860 – re-enacted in “St. Stefan” in Istanbul

On April 18th (Saturday), the Easter events of 1860 will be re-enacted in the Bulgarian iron church “Saint Stefan” near the Golden horn in Istanbul. These events started the Bulgarian struggles for independence of the church and state. The re-enactment is organized by the foundation “Bulgarian Orthodox church St. Stefan in Tsarigrad”.

Hundreds of Bulgarians are expected to attend the church rites of one of the biggest Orthodox holidays. The bishop Kiril Didov, representative of the “Holy apostles Petar and Pavel” church in Sofia will lead the event with the blessing of the Bulgarian patriarch Maxim.
