The achievements of Bulgarian archaeology travel to the US

Prof. Nikolay Ovcharov announced, that he will present the achievements of bulgarian archaeology at the university of Illinois, Ohio and to the Bulgarian community in Chicago between November 28th and December 8th. Prof. Ovcharov’s visit is part of the initiative of the municipality of Haskovo and the tourism centre of the city.

Two days ago, the professor received an invitation to lecture at the university of Blooming, but his participation is not yet confirmed. 2009 will mark the 10th anniversary of the beginning of the studies of Perperikon, added Ovcharov.

The work on the infrastructure in the region will start in March-April 2009. The preparation is done and the realization of the project now depends on the EU funding and the expeditious work of the Ministry of culture.

During the archaeological season next year, the studies near the church complex “St. Ivan Rilski” will contunue. An exhibit of the archaeological findings of 2008 will take place at the National institute for archaeology on December 18th, added prof. Ovcharov.
