Parvanov with an ultimatum for the deputees

The president Georgi Parvanov stated in a special speech, that he will propose a referendum for the introduction of majority element in the parliamentary elections, if the deputees don’t approve the law regarding this issue within ten days.

On a press conference on “Dondukov” str., the Bulgarian president evaluated the changes in the law for elections so far and reminded everyone of his stance on the subject matter.

He noted that there are loopholes in the law for elections – deliberate or not – and he questioned the issue of the financing of political parties.

The Bulgarian president reminded that people want to choose personalities and leaders and that he intends to call for a referendum if the government doesn’t support the majority element in the parliamentary elections.
