New Year’s Eve at the “Alexander Battenberg” square

2009 is here, welcomed with much joy, ringing of glasses and bright lights in the Bulgarian sky. The fireworks show in Sofia brought joy and surprise to everyone in the “Alexander Battenberg” square and everyone watching the TV programme. The number “2009” was set ablaze, as if to burn everything old behind.

With the hope for a better year, the New Year’s Eve concert gathered various citizens in the square of the capital. Loners, friends, families and others poured in the square after 23:00 PM, smiling and waiting.

Dozens of policemen guarded the order of the concert, but they enjoyed a peaceful night. The citizens celebrated quietly, and the clean up of the square began early in the morning.
