M. Kuneva: The new market is the internet

The European Commissioner for Consumer Protection Meglena Kuneva works on a new directive for consumers, but it isn’t yet known if it will be voted on during the mandate of the current parliament.

“My main goal is to make internet shopping more accessible through various mobile connections. The new market is onscreen,” said Meglena Kuneva for the Bulgarian national radio.

She expressed hopes that Bulgaria will come close to other EU countries in the field of consumer protection.

“I know that Bulgaria’s level in that field is significantly lower than in other countries, but that could really push producers and suppliers to compete with each other, which will in the end benefit the customer,” commented Kuneva.

According to her, “Bulgaria will be very different within five years”.
