Burgas is now part of the 100 national tourism sites

Burgas took it’s rightful place as a popular destination in the National movement “Get to know Bulgaria – 100 national tourism sites”.

The “Tourism” department in the municipality of Burgas and the Regional museum of Burgas insisted long and hard to the Bulgarian tourism union for the inclusion of several sites in the city. Two of them were approved – the Ethnographic museum in the city and the protected region “Poda”.

As early as next year, tourists that take advertising materials from the National movement, will get to know the variety of birds in the lakes of Burgas and the rich cultural and historical heritage of the region. They will find out about the medieval fortress Burgos (Poros) near “Poda” – a landmark of the 20 centuries of Burgas in European history.

The Ethnographic museum of the city is located in a beautiful old building right next to the monastery “Saints Kiril and Metodii”. It represents the traditions and way of life in Burgas.

The goal of the movement “Get to know Bulgaria – 100 national tourism sites” is to encourage tourists to acquaint themselves with some of the most important places in Bulgaria. The list includes cultural, historical, geographic, archaeological, architectural and other monuments with both local and worldwide importance.
