“Eastern plays” is in the official selection for the LUX award

The Bulgarian movie “Eastern plays” by the director Kamen Kalev was added to the official selection of the award of the European parliament.

The rest of the movies selected for the competition for the LUX award will be announced on June 12th in Brussels. The award was established in 2007 by the European parliament in support of the European film industry. It encourages the cultural diversity and artistic expression in Europe. The LUX award is under the patronage of the European parliament and supports the distribution of cinema in the European union, especially for movies that actively address the European social debate.

Only three of the ten selected movies will compete for the LUX award. The final three will be announced at the Venice Film Festival (September 2nd – 12th 2009). The fate of “Eastern plays” remains to be seen!
