Flight companies expect government aid

Submitted on Tuesday, 31 March 2009No Comment

The government must cover the airport taxes to help the Bulgarian flight companies in the environment of an international crisis. The proposal comes from the Association of Bulgarian flight companies (ABA). This year, the association expects a decrease of flights between 6 and 9%.

Airport taxes are defined by the government. The concessioner of the airports Burgas and Varna – Fraport Twin Star – receives the income. The income of the Sofia airport is used for the modernization of the building.

The vice-prime minister Ivailo Kalfin introduced the ABA proposal as one of the needed measures to help the tourism sector.
