‘Polaroid Stories’ for the first time in Bulgaria

The theatre production ‘Polaroid Stories’ will have its first night in Bulgaria on October 1. The play is a modern interpretation of Ovid’s ‘Metamorphoses’, an epic poem drawing on Greek mythology, and was inspired by interviews with young prostitutes and tramps living on an abandoned quay in New York. The design of the play is a combination between real and unreal, contemporary street sensation and mythological stories. The modern looks and styling provoke imagination and allow magic and magical transformations of the characters to be recreated.

Director of the play in Bulgaria is Dana Dobreva. The author is Naomi Iizuka who has received world recognition for her works and the American PEN Literaty Prize for the play ‘Polaroid Stories’.

In Bulgaria the staging will be played by the actors Andronia Popova (Philomela), Antoniy Argirov (Dionis), Veselin Anchev (Orpheus), Daniel Rashev (Zeus/Hades), Elen Koleva (Eurydice), Lidia Indzhova (Echo), Nadia Stephanova (Skinhead Girl), Stela Stoyanova (Persephone), Stilyan Stoyanov (Skinhead Boy) and Stoyan Mladenov (Narcissus).
