The Bulgarian IT market grows despite the crisis

Submitted on Thursday, 26 March 2009No Comment

The prognosis for the Bulgarian IT market for the period 2009-2012 are for a slowdown of the growth – from the initially predicted 35% to 11.8%.

Despite the problems in the sector, a growth of 39.6% of personal computer sales is observed during the last quarter of 2008, contrasting with the overall reduction of sales in the European market.

According to a research of ICT Media, the IT companies suffer from a nearly 50% decrease of income. This was announced by Nedyalka Yolovska, ICT manager during the conference “The reflection of the crisis on the IT business”, which took place in the hotel “Sheraton”.

Neli Vacheva, manager of IDC Bulgaria, announced that the market is in a quickly shifting phase, and what could be predicted yesterday is no longer valid today. She added that this situation applies to all businesses. Any sort of prognosis is very unreliable in the economical climate of today.
