Soon Bulgaria will have a city that can successfully compete with Venice, informs the Bulgarian national television.

A three kilometre long cannal will be constructed in the center of Kardzhali to protect the city from floods.

The Ministry of regional development are investors in the unique project.

This is one of the biggest such constructions in the country, financed by the national budget with nearly 77 million leva. “The construction will be completed in three months”, announced the vice-minister Dimcho Mihalevski.

The project will protect the city of Kardzhali from the waters of the river Arda and will create a lake with a permanent water level of 4 metres.
