Tourist center will be built near Perperikon

The contruction of the tourist informational center of the archaeological site Perperikon will begin by the end of June. The first turning of the sod will be made during the Ninth international festival Perperikon – 2009, which will take place in the city Kardzhali between June 22nd – 30th. This was announced by the archaeologist prof. Nikolai Ovcharov.

The FAR program provided 2.6 million Euro for the construction of this center. The construction itself will open about 120 working places. Another 130 people will work on the researches surrounding the project.

250 thousand tourists visited Perperikon last year, announced Ovcharov. This year, during the holidays between May 1st – 6th, visitors were 20 000.
