“The Golden Harlequin” festival begins in Pleven

The national festival for bulgarian pop songs “The Golden Harlequin”, dedicated to the memory of the singer and composer Emil Dimitrov, begins in his home city, Pleven.

The aim of the event is to make a yearly recap of the level of pop and rock music in Bulgaria. The recital in the final evening will be by Georgi Hristov, announce BTV televison.

Among the participants and the jury are Mitko Shterev, Rumen Boyadjiev, Alexander Brazitsov, Rumen Nikolov, Orlin Goranov, Roberta, Maxim Goranov.
During the festival days, two contests will be held – for a bulgarian pop song and for a bulgarian pop performer. There will also be an audience award, presented in the name of Emil Dimitrov.

The municipality and sponsors both finances the event. During it’s course, a song written especially for the festival will be performed. It was composed by Rumen Boyadjiev and Alexander Brazitsov, with lyrics written by Daniela Kuzmanova, and will be performed by Orlin Goranov, Mariana Popova, Vladi Mihailov, Ivan Lechev and Roberta.

The festival concerts will take place in “Ivan Radoev” theatre at 19:30 this Saturday and Sunday.
