“Southern stream” stabilizes the energy safety of Europe
The gas canal “Southern stream” that crosses through Bulgaria will obviously reinforce the european energy safety”, said a russian diplomat cited by Itar-Tass.
The creation of a unified energy front between Russia and the European union will “let Moscow and Brussel be more competitive in the global economics”, said for an interview for the radio station “The Voice of Russia” the member of parliament-minister of foreign affairs Alexander Grushko.
“The union of the electroenergy systems of Russia and the EU will assist the reinforcement of the energy safety of the region. During the first stage we have to synchronize our duties, and then get on completing the infrastructural projects”, noted the diplomat.
“Russia aims for equality in energy markets. We are against EU rules spreading automatically over Russia”, noted Grushko. Moscow insists for equal access of the operators from Russia and EU to the energy base and the electricity networks.
Grushko reminds, that the gas canal “Northern stream” is included in the priorities of the EU itself. It is registered as a priority project in the shared documents of Russia and the EU. “The same applies to the Southern Stream as well, as it will reinforce the european energy safety”, added Grushko.
“Energetics are becoming a sphere of political struggle. We in Russia were wondering when american representatives appear in Caucaus and begin to actively lobby for energy projects”, concluded the russian diplomat. According to him, politicized projects are doomed, because they are economically ineffective.
