A million per day in Bansko during the Ski world cup

At least a million leva per day will be the profit for Bansko during the competitions of the Ski world cup. The money will come from over 10 thousand tourists from all over the world that will pour into the elite resort to watch the races of the top skiers live.

Thousands of visitors – fans of the ski sports – are also expected from neighbouring countries like Greece.

“The direct profits are hard to predict and it’s difficult to make a prognosis. The simple math shows that if 10 000 tourists pay the minimum price of 50 leva per night’s stay, this would be 500 thousand leva daily. Another 50 per day are the basic income from their entertainment and food needs. But what is priceless for Bansko right now is not the economical factor, but the image”, comments the vice-chairman of the Bulgarian ski federation Georgi Bobev. “Bansko rarely gets in the VIP list of the cities that are hosts of the Ski world cup. The greater profits await, if we do well now”, thinks the mayor of the city Alexander Kravarov.
