Rumyana and Svilen Neykovi receive the order “Stara Planina”

The Olympian rowing champion Rumyana Neykova and her husband and trainer Svilen Neykov will be awarded with the order “Stara Planina” – Ist degree.

The Bulgarian president Georgi Parvanov awards the two with decrees в„– 49 and в„– 50 for their exceptional contribution to the Bulgarian sport and physical education. Rumyana Neykova won the only gold medal for Bulgaria in the summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008. Last year, she was chosen as a sports person в„– 1 of Bulgaria.

In her career, Neykova won another two Olympian medals – a silver medal for “Sydney 2000” and a bronze medal for “Athens 2004”. She is a two times world champion and has a title from the European championship. She’s also the first winner of the “Female Rower в„– 1 in the world” of FISA.
