New multifunctional sport hall in Sofia

The chairwoman of the National agency for youth and sport (DAMS) Vesela Lecheva turned the first sod for the construction of the new multifunctional sport hall in Sofia.

The modern sport hall will be constructed next to the football terrain in the complex “Cherveno zname” (Red flag).

The hall will be used for most of the Olympic sports like basketball, volleyball, handball, wrestling, gymnastics, boxing, judo, tennis, table tennis, badminton, etc. The capacity will be 12 400 seats, and could contain a maximum of 14 000 – 18 000 people.

This will be a full-fledged sport complex, explained the architect Jeko Tilev, who made the project for the building. “There will be a training room in addition to the main hall”, added Tilev.
