Bulgaria will host the General Assembly of EAPN

Bulgaria will be host of the General Assembly of the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN), organized by EAPN-Bulgaria with the support of the European commission, The Labour and Social Policy Ministry and the Confederation of independent syndicates in Bulgaria (KNSB).

The forum will take place in the time period of September 25 – 27 in the sea resort ‘Albena’ and will go under the heading ‘Final countdown: Preparations for a successful 2010 – European year against poverty’. The initiative will be conducted under the patronage of Bulgaria’s President Georgi Parvanov.

In the time of the forum 180 delegates from countries-members of the EU will learn more about Bulgarian non-governmental organizations and will define their messages for 2010 – the European year against poverty. The goal of the General Assembly is to enlarge the capacity of national networks in conducting future campaigns in connection with the European initiative, as well as evaluate the one-year appliance of the work and strategic plan of EAPN.

Experts from the Labour and Social Policy Ministry will introduce the delegates to the policy in the areas of overcoming poverty and social isolation, disabled persons, minority groups, demographic policy, labour market and others.
