“Bulgaria is working inside a very competitive environment, as far as the foreign toursts market is concerned. The Bulgarian government should consider measures to decrease the foreign trade deficiency as one of the measures to develop and bolster tourism,” said Rumen Draganov, director of the Institute for analysis and evaluation of tourism in an interview.

“In this complicated environment, when are main competitors are Greece, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Northern coast of Africa, etc. – everyone is thinking about counter measures, methods to attract more tourists and decrease their deficiencies in their respective fields.”

Draganov suggested measures like the simplification of the visa regime, decrease of airport taxes, decrease of the stakes in VAT.
