Ivan Kostov heads control of State Agency for National Security
Bulgaria’s former prime minister and leader of the die-hard rightists in parliament Ivan Kostov will head the committee to monitor the State Agency for National Security, dubbed the country’s FBI.
The chairmanship will be rotating.
Under the parliamentary regulations, the chair of this committee and the body for corruption combat will be picked on a rotation principle.
Lawmakers approved at the end of 2007 the law setting up the State Agency for National Security by merging civilian counterespionage service with the financial investigations service and the military counterespionage service.
