Another triumph for “The world is big and salvation lurks around the corner”

The most ambitious Bulgarian cinema production for the last 20 years “The world is big and salvation lurks around the corner” was applauded at the 12th film festival “Black Nights” in the Estonian capital Tallinn. “Black nights” is among the most authoritative forums in Europe, and is included in the “Variety” magazine charts among the top 50 most important cinema events in the world. This year, the festival offered a competitive program featuring world-class directors.

Among the 18 films were the works of Michael Winterbottom, Samira Mahmalbaf, Mika Kaurismaki, Ari Folman, Steve McQueen, Olivier Asayas, John To, Paolo Sorentino, Vladimir Kot. The very presence of the movie of Komandarev is a success by itself. The Bulgarian movie did not only that, but held it’s own and was the only movie at the festival to receive two prizes.

“The world is big…” got the special award of the International jury. The other prize is the “Don Quixote” from the International cinema clubs federation, motivated this way: “This is a movie both emotional and thought-provoking.”
