130 years – Sofia capital of Bulgaria

April 3rd marks the 130th anniversary of the announcement of Sofia as a capital of Bulgaria. At 11:00 AM a ceremony took place in the church “St. Alexander Nevski”, followed by the ritual rising of the Sofia flag.

The chairman of the National assembly Georgi Pirinski and the prime minister Sergei Stanishev attended the ceremony. At 13:00 PM, the open-air gallery in front of the National theatre opened the exhibition “Russia and Bulgaria at the end of the 19th century. The participation of Russian citizens in the revival period of Bulgaria”. The exhibition was organized by the Main archive of Moscow.

At 19:00 PM in hall 1 of the National palace of culture begins the concert-spectacle dedicated to the anniversary. The funds gathered from the concert will go to a charity cause.
