Topalov won the fifth game

Veselin Topalov won the fifth game of chess against Gata Kamsky (USA).

The American with the black chess pieces surrendered on the 55th turn of the game. It went on for over four hours in the 6th hall of the National palace of culture in Sofia. With this victory, Veselin Topalov takes the lead with 3:2 points.

According to the rules, the two will have to play eight games. The winner will be the chess player that gains 4,5 points. With a tie of 4:4, a “tiebreak” minigame with reduced time for turns will take place on February 28th. The winner will face the Indian Viswanathan Anand for the champion title.

Yesterday Topalov lost the fourth chess game with Gata Kamsky (USA) in a game that was supposed to elect the competitor for the champion title.
