The women volleyball team of Bulgaria qualified directly for the next European championship in 2011, after entering the top 8 of the current championship Euro 2009 in Poland.

This was made possible after ConfГ©dГ©ration EuropГ©enne de Volleyball (CEV) rejected the host duties of Switzerland and gave them to Serbia and Italy. According to the rules, the top 6 teams from the championship in Poland qualify directly to the next. However, Serbia and Italy qualified directly for the top 6 of Euro 2009, which gave the seventh and eighth team the chance to qualify directly as well.
