By the opening of Varna Mall in June, the commercial areas in Bulgaria’s seaside capital have increased by 33 000 square meters. During the first six months of 2008 were opened new stores that possess over 40 000 square meters. This means that for the first half of the year Varna has increased its commercial areas by 30% and has reached almost one third of the completed commercial areas in the entire country.

Currently a total of 545 thousand square meters of malls are being built. By 2010 another 730 000 will be finished. This showed a study of the consultancy company on real estate ‘Colliers International’, according to which some cities in Bulgaria have already reached their point of saturations.

In Sofia the area of modern office buildings reached 759 000 meters and the total increase for the country for the first half of the year reached 7%.

Besides that, ‘Colliers’ made the first measuring of the areas at the main commercial streets. The data showed 38 000 square meters in Sofia and 16 000 square meters in Varna.
