Topalov on the top for the 8th time

The ex-chess champion of the planet Veselin Topalov is the current leader of the international rankings for July with 2813 points, announced FIDE. Thus the Bulgarian master is even with his record for the same period – July-October 2006.

In the history of chess, only Gari Kasparov has a bigger ratio – 2851. Topalov is at the top of the list for the eighth time. Only six people have been at the top of the rankings after 1970 – the year that marks the introduction of ELO and the measures for the skill level of chess players.

In the July list, the adversary of Topalov – Viswanathan Anand is second with 25 points less. On August 22nd Veselin Topalov and five other world champions will play a massive, simultaneous game against fans in ZГјrich, Germany.
