The team of the Mathematics High School in Sofia – second in Thailand

The team of the Mathematics High School in Sofia (SMG) was ranked second in a competition in the Kingdom of Thailand. This was announced to journalists by Mariana Todorova, headmaster of the school.

Two golden, one silver and one bronze medals are the result of the efforts of the SMG team, lead by Irena Sharkova. This result got them second place in the team rankings, revealed the media agency Focus.

The participants in the International competition in Thailand competed in two groups, depending on their age. The first is for children in fifth to seventh grade (up to thirteen years old), and the second – students in ninth to tenth grade (up to 15 years old). The children from Sofia are second in the first age category.

The competition had two stages. The first was solving 15 mathematical problems for 90 minutes; the second was solving 10 problems for an hour. Other schools from Bulgaria that participated aside from SMG were the NPMG and the mathematical high schools of Shumen and Burgas.
