The EU elections are not just about Bulgaria

The EU elections are not just about Bulgaria

According to the president of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov, turning the campaign for the elections of European Parliament into a simple voting “for” or “against” the government – or even against a certain person – will be a mistake.

The president commented on that during a press conference with his Slovenian colleague Danilo Turk, answering a journalist’s question.

“The Bulgarian politicians are guilty of still not holding a true European debate for all issues that concern modern-day Europe – the functioning of institutions, the broadening of the EU, the issues of the security of the Union and the EU citizen himself”, said the president Parvanov. He noted, however, that Bulgaria organized a debate on the issue of small nations within the Union and the effect of European politics on a single citizen.
