RIOSV approved of the plan for “Tourism and ski zone Aleko”

After three hours of negotiations, the Expert ecology council of the Regional inspection for environment and waters (RIOSV) – Sofia approved of the detailed urbanization plan for the “Tourism and ski zone Aleko”, part of the park “Vitosha”.

This was made clear after today’s reviewing of the Ecology evaluation report and the Plan compatibility evaluation.

The plan includes the replacement of the nine existing ski lifts with the same number of lifts over the same ski tracks, but with capacities of 7300 people per hour.

The aforementioned lift will service 17 500 meters of ski tracks, marked and safeguarded according to European requirements.

“Representatives of “Vitosha ski” emphasize on the provided technology for artificial snow which uses no chemicals whatsoever. An artificial body of water will be created for the purpose of the artificial snow and will also serve as a fire extinguishing utility.

The presented project, approved by RIOSV, is strictly following the requirements of the Plan for management of the natural park Vitosha.

“Vitosha ski” company defines the statements of ecologists as “empty criticism” and guarantee that they will do everything they can to stop the destruction of Vitosha. If their project is approved by the municipality administration, a modern and orderly recreation and sport zone will soon be a fact.
