Police goes after illegal bookmakers

Police officers carried out a massive operation against illegal internet bookmakers.

The police forces arrested 30 people from Sofia, Gotse Delchev and Lovech, responsible for illegal gains of 5 million leva which were later invested in other criminal activity.

Over 120 policemen from the Department for organized crime and regional departments across the country, 25 investigators and 5 public prosecutors took part in the campaign.

The report for a crime circle dealing with illegal internet bookmarking services surfaced in November. The crime circle simulated foreign bookmaking websites that dealt with football matches and other sport events.
