Levski FC – 95 years old

In Bulgaria today, there’s barely an institution that is more respected or followed by millions like the phenomenon called “Levski” FC. Created back in the royal times of Bulgaria, surviving communism and blooming during democracy, the “blue” team have truly survived the test of time. The performance of the team affects millions of Bulgarians for almost a century now. Even though it’s based in the capital Sofia, the team is loved across the country and known around Europe.

The team is created by regular citizens, and thus rightly calls itself “the team of the people”. On May 24th 1914, the football club Levski was founded in the region “Mogilkata” (currently the garden in front of 22nd school). The idea is realized by high schoolers from the Second Male Gymnasium.

In it’s long history, Levski Sofia has been champion of Bulgaria 25 times, and received the Cup of Bulgaria 26 times.
