GERB will prepare the new Election codex

GERB will propose the creation of a new work group that will prepare the Election codex, announced the chairman of the commission for law issues Iskra Fidosova during their first meeting.

Fidosova pointed out that the approval of a new election codex is a priority for GERB. “We intend to prepare the codex and introduce it to the parliament within the first six months of the newest National assembly,” said she.

Fidosova also proposed the formation of the working group for the codex during the next meeting of the Commission for law issues.

The vice-chairman of the National assembly Hristo Biserov (DPS) said that the work meeting shouldn’t be formed within the law commission, but inside the parliament.

The members of the commission rejected the proposal of RZS to change the Law for election of the Great national assembly. It was supported only by the members of the Blue coalition and RZS.

According to the members of GERB, the preparation of a new Election codex that includes the election of the Great national assembly is crucial. Chetin Kazak from DPS pointed out that the project does not fit the priorities of the parliament. Liuben Kornezov stated that the project is hurried and is an example for weak legal technique.

“The nature of the changes we seek in the Constitution is important”, said Kornezov. “If we approve of this law we’re telling the citizens that it’s our time to leave”, added he.
