Bulgarian concert evenings open in New York

The “Bulgarian Concert Evenings” series officially began Wednesday with a gala concert held at Carnegie Hall in New York.

The annual event is the fourth consecutive one and includes monthly performances by young Bulgarian musicians at the building of the Bulgarian General Consulate in New York. The concerts are sponsored by the American Foundation for Bulgaria. The Foundation’s Board of Directors includes distinguished representatives of the Bulgarian society in New York such as Ted Vasilev, Diko Mihov, Nelly Dokovska, Stefka Evstaiteva and others.

The Bulgarian concert performances so far have enjoyed great success in New York among both Bulgarian and American audiences. The concerts are also followed with interest by the city’s artistic circles – in the last two years, musicians from Metropolitan Opera have performed a benefit concert to support their young Bulgarian colleagues.

Thirteen young Bulgarian musicians participated in the gaa opening concert in Carnegie Hall. They performed pieces from European and American composers. The musicians such as Georgi Vulchev, Irena Momchilova, Steliana Nedeva, Ilyan Iliev and others are all award winning performers of international and Bulgarian musical competitions and all study at prestigious US colleges.
