Boyko Borisov in meeting with European Commissioners

The Mayor of Bulgaria’s capital Sofia Boyko Borisov attended a meeting today with the European Commissioner for Environment Stavros Dimas and the European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security Jacques Barrot. The main purpose of their meeting was to discuss the construction of a waste-recycling factory in Sofia and the steps to fight corruption and organized crime.

According to Stavros Dimas, Sofia Municipality had done everything on schedule to bring about the construction of a waster-processing plant and if there were any delays, they certainly weren’t the Municiality’s fault.

‘If Borisov was Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, we would be stricter and more critical than we are towards the present socialist government, because our expectations for successful policies are greater towards our partners than towards our opponents. Our duty is to make sure that the money of the European taxpayers are spent accordingly’, said the Chair of the group of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament Joseph Daul, whom Sofia’s Mayor met later the same day.
