The press center of the Council of ministers announced that the Bulgarian government approved the National strategy for stable development of tourism in Bulgaria for the period 2009 – 2013.

The goal of the strategy is to improve the level of competivity and effectiveness of the tourism sector through the effective use of the natural and human resources. The vision for the development of the sector over the coming years is to turn Bulgaria into a well-known and preferred destination for both native and foreign tourists during all four seasons, with a unique look and local identity also attracting many visitors.

The goals of the strategy will be achieved by making Bulgaria a higher ranking destination in the global tourism market through the improvement of tourism infrastructure on a national, regional and municipal level; the appliance of global standards and European practices; the conservation of tourism resources. Advertising Bulgaria as an attractive tourism destination is of utmost importance.
