“It isn’t our fault that the Republic of Macedonia practically possesses the richest collection of pieces of Bulgarian cultural heritage outside the Bulgarian borders.”

Those were the words of the historician prof. Trendafil Mitev, chairman of the Macedonian scientific institute.

“The country holds many military monuments, and over 200 other places of cultural importance. Places like churches, monasteries, special historical inscriptions with lots of historic value. Both nations had a similar historical fate and developed under a single political climate. We have to come to an agreement on the cultural and historical monuments of the Bulgarian heritage”, added prof. Mitev.
