Six firms nominated for “Investor of the year”

The experts from the Bulgarian investment agency chose between six companies that invested large sums in their activities in Bulgaria throughout 2008. The awards were handed out yesterday night by the minister of economics and energetics Petar Dimitrov.

The wind-powered plant Kaliakra was nominated in the electroenergy sector. The project is worth over 90 million leva and was realized by the union “Kaliakra Wind Power”. The wind-powered plant has an overall capacity of 35 MW.

Another nominated company is “Devnia concrete” AD, part of the Italcementti Group” – Italy. The total amount of investments of “Italcemmenti” to this day is 200 million euro.

In June 2008, the biggest producer of ceramic bricks in the world – tha Austrian firm “Wienerberger”, officially opened it’s first factory in Bulgaria. The factory is located in the city Lukovit, and the investment is worth well over 25 million euro.

Another candidate for the prestigious award was Lufthansa Technik AG. The list is rounded up with “Hewlett-Packard” – the company started a hi-tech center in Sofia that serves customers with quality software and hardware products.
