Bulgaria’s first skyscraper to be built in Sofia

Submitted on Wednesday, 24 September 2008No Comment

A famous architect will build the first skyscraper in Bulgaria. The unique building will be raised in Sofia near the former amusement park Sofia Land. The project has been approved and its construction will start in the beginning of 2009.

The 60-storey-high tower was designed by the renowned Austrian architect Ernst Fuchs. An orthodox crypt will be put on its top and it will be used as picture gallery.

According to specialists, this skyscraper will be the most beautiful and unique in Bulgaria.

The tower was first approved for building in Dubai but the local authorities insisted on building it without the orthodox crypt due to religious reasons. Ernest Fuchs despite of that remained certain that the crypt is what makes his project unique so it must be built. That’s the reason the foundation tried to cooperate with European countries.
