Bulgarian students excel at maths competition

Students from Bulgaria took part in the Eighth international mathematics festival, which took place between May 8th – 11th 2009 in Kiev.

The festival is organized by the Institute for mathematics of the Ukrainian academy of sciences. A total of 25 teams took part in the competition, with over 250 young mathematicians from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Slovakia, Croatia, Turkey and others. Our mathematicians are ninth grade students in the NPMG high school in Sofia.

In the individual rankings, the Bulgarian Slavcho Slavchev took the first place, and Ivan Mechkov – secod. In the team rankings, Bulgaria reached third place.
