“In the future, the municipalities themselves will be the catalyst for the real changes and results in energy stability”. Those were the words of the vice-mayor for EU integration and ecology of the municipality of Burgas Ivelina Vasileva during the initiative “Green week” 2009 in Brussels.

She was invited by the European Commission and the International organization “Local Governments for Sustainability” (ICLEI). Burgas is part of that organization.

The initiative takes place between June 23rd – 26th in Brussels under the slogan “Changing of the climate: action and adaptation”. There were four main topics of discussion this year – “Climate policy of the EU”, “International dimensions”, “Life during the changing climate” and “2050 vision: a society without carbon”.
