A national brand will be created
DAT will apply for the financing of a project under the Operative Program “Regional development”, clarified the chairman of the department Anelia Krushkova during the conference “Money for tourism”. She reminded, that each attempt to create a solid image for Bulgaria as a tourism destination has failed due to drastic differences of opinion.
The project for a national brand will be ready as late as May. For now, the National agency for tourism (DAT) got financing from the European funds for six projects, for a total of 32 million leva. The creation of advertisement materials, showcase of our tourism market abroad and encouragement of the internal tourism were among their projects.
“The projects, with which we apply for European programs, are too segmented between the various departments, instead being homogenous for our common goal,” said Elena Poptodorova, ambassador for the issues of the Black Sea coast region. She pointed out Bulgaria’s troubles at attracting tourists from far away destinations and suggested a co-operative tourism product with our neighbouring countries.
