“Times” defend Berbatov
After being severely criticised by the British media for his miss of a penalty kick against Everton FC, Berbatov received extensive article in defence of his qualities as a football player.
“Statistics can’t accurately reflect the main contribution of the Bulgarian, the crafty passes that he accomplished despite the densely packed defence of Middlesbrough last December or the elegance of his collaboration with Tevez against Liverpool last September”, noted “Times”.
The newspaper added, that the talent of Berbatov is very specific and is not easily understood by non-professionals. “Players like Berbatov possess individuality; his dexterity and his quirks only add to the qualities of football that mean so much to us”, explained “Times”.
