The protest of grain-producers began today, in front of the temple-memorial “Alexander Nevski”, announced the news agency “Focus”. About 500 people protest in the squre.

All grain-producers that came with agricultural machines started the engines and blew their horns, signalling the beginning of the protest. A symbolic scarecrow of a farmer with rubber boots was raised by the protesters. The slogan of the symbol reads: “You lowered the Bulgarian farmers to this”.

The protesting farmers explained, that most of them are indebted to banks and their properties are at stake in order to pay for them. The interests increased over time from 1.5 to 2%. The farmers said that even portions of the direct fundings that the minister of agriculture promised them were not given.
