Stoichev wins – again

The bulgarian Petar Stoichev is the final winner of Grand Prix of the swimmer’s marathon for 2008, announced the International federation for swimming sports. He wins the title for an eight consecutive year!

The bulgarian did not finish in the last race for the season – 15 kilometres in the Sumidero channel – but his advance in the general polls was enough to triumph with 126 points.

Stoichev won 6 of the 9 races during the year of his first participation in 1999, and holds the record for won races – 43. He holds the first position for 2008. Second place is for Brendan Capel (Australlia) with 89 points and finished sixth in Mexico. Third place is for Stephan Gomez (France) with 84 points, who finished fourth at Chipas.

The winner received 15 000 dollars from the race’s funds, the silver medalist got 10 000 and the bronze – 5000.

The winner in the female competition is Natalya Pankina with 110 points (4 wins during the season). She won over Stephanie Biller (Germany) with 99 points and last year’s winner Ester Nunes Morera (Spain) with 85 points.
