“The roads in many European countries are thoroughly blocked. In Sofia, however, all main roads were fully functional and the public transport served the citizens”, said the mayor of Sofia Boiko Borisov to journalists after opening the renovated neurological department in the second MBAL hospital.

Borisov added, that “most boulevards in the capital are cleared completely, even though there isn’t such force that could wipe out the snow momentarily”.

The mayor stressed that the snow has been cleared all night, and he, along with other officials from the capital inspectorate, monitored the progress carefully.

“The country is blocked, my colleagues in Veliko Tarnovo can’t reach their homes, but Sofia is cleared thoroughly”, said Borisov.
