The Ministry of emergency situations warned of imminent heavy snowfall. The snow that began falling this morning will continue throughout the day, and in the night will cover most of the country.

Northeastern Bulgaria will be covered last. The Meteorology centres warn of 15-20 centimetres snowfall in Western and Southern Bulgaria, 8-12 centimetres in North Bulgaria, and 20-30 – in the mountain regions.

The snowfall will impede car drivers. The visibility in the mountain passes will be below 50 metres, lowered by the constant snowfall and thick fog. Ice will form as well. The wind will blow with 6-9 metres per second, and in Eastern Bulgaria it will intensify to 10-15 metres per second, increasing the possibilities for snow-drifts.
