Online payment becomes increasingly popular among Bulgarians

More and more Bulgarian consumers use the advantages of online payment, notes the website ePay.bg. Last year, payments with the system grew by 65% compared to 2007.

The habits of the Bulgarian consumer are changing, and new payment methods are making the lives of our clients easier, explains Georgi Marionv, CEO of ePay.

“I believe that convenience and speed of online shopping will motivate more and more Bulgarians to use this method of purchase for all kinds of goods”, added he.

For 2008, the number of transactions through the system grew to 2,8 million compared to 1,7 million in 2007. The total number of completed transactions also grew by 65%. In 2008, they were nearly 173 milllion leva. The number of ePay.bg users to this date is over 70 thousand.

The biggest percentage of payments are for the communal companies CEZ and BTK. Virtual shopping is also becoming more popular, and for 2008 the transactions through online shops surpassed 224 thousand.
