Grigor satisfied with the success over Hungary
Grigor Dimitrov defined the elimination of Hungary from the Davis Cup as a great success and also added, that it’s a great responsibility to play for your own country.
“For me, the defeat of Hungary is a great success. At the “Davis” cup, the responsibility is far greater, you’re not just playing for yourself”, said the 17 year old talent, who now has seven victories in seven matches in the unofficial international tennis championship. He played a total of 14 sets in the three days and brought the final success with a victory over the prime racket of the Hungarians Atilla Balazs by 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
“This was my first game with five sets. I’m very happy that I endured and was still very aware of the game in the fifth set. I could’ve made the game easier for me. There were moments when I lacked concentration and made elementary mistakes. But the victory is most important now”, concluded Grigor Dimitrov.
“This is one of our most valuable victories in the last few years, comparable only to the victory over Finland with Yarko Nieminen in 2005”, commented the president of the Bulgarian Tennis Federation Stefan Tsvetkov after the game.
