French investments – dominant in Bulgaria this year
The direct investments in Bulgaria this year will be nearly two billion EUR less. This will be a decrease of nearly a third compared to the investments in 2008.
The chief executive of the Bulgarian investment agency Stoyan Stalev prognosticated that by the end of 2009, the direct investments in Bulgaria for 2009 will reach nearly 4 billion EUR.
Last year, the foreign investments in Bulgaria were over 6 billion EUR, announces the Bulgarian National Radio. These statistics however, are not as bad as the expectations for a 50% decrease from three months ago.
For the first half of the year, the total amount of investments is 1,6 billion EUR and for a year as difficult as this it’s a good result, commented Stalev.
The top investors in Bulgaria this year are French, which places France fourth among the traditional investors in the country like the Netherlands, Austria and Germany.
